This session is critical for those new to recruitment and hiring and should also help seasoned HR professionals and managers audit existing processes for effectiveness and legal compliance.

- Ensuring that job descriptions and postings both comply with new legal requirements and meet the needs of your organization.
- Dos and don’ts for screening applications.
- Recommendations for training supervisors and others involved in interviewing and evaluating applicants to ensure lawful interviews and well-supported hiring decisions.
- Navigating various issues in the hiring process, including requests for disability or religious accommodation, testing, pre-employment drug tests (including marijuana), and pregnancy.
- The importance of thorough reference and background checks to mitigate hiring risks, as well as legal requirements and restrictions on these checks.
- Making compliant job offers and making effective use of the probationary period in public sector roles.
