Cyber incidents frequently start with something visible from the outside: an unpatched system, a weak email setting, a remote access port left open. Attackers find these by scanning the internet. Through our partnership with KYND, Enduris members with cyber coverage can see the same things first, at no cost.
What KYND does
KYND ON monitors your district’s externally visible footprint continuously, starting from a single domain name. It checks more than 250 risk factors across domain registration, email security, and exposed services, without touching your internal systems. Results appear on a traffic light dashboard. Red items are high risks that KYND believes will cause business interruption if ignored. Amber items are for consideration. Green items look good. Typical findings include end-of-life software, weak email security settings, exposed databases, and open Remote Desktop Protocol ports.
The monthly Signals Report
Each month, KYND sends a Signals Report that summarizes what it found and what to do about it. Actions fall into two groups. Essential actions are benchmarks that insurers commonly use in due diligence, and they should be addressed promptly. Advisable actions are lower priority but strengthen your district’s resilience over time. Every item includes a plain explanation, so your IT staff or vendor can fix it quickly.
What we are asking you to do
- Register for KYND. Look for your enrollment invitation from Enduris. The link is unique to your district, and once you are enrolled you can add more staff. If you cannot find it, contact Member Relations and we will resend it.
- Use the monthly report. Open it each month, share it with whoever manages your technology, and start with the essential actions. Track what gets fixed. A report that is read and acted on reduces your exposure. A report that sits unopened does not.
- Add additional cyber contacts. You may add as many contacts to the KYND ON portal as you wish. Add those who should review the KYND Signals Report.
Add a Cyber Contact to Your Enduris Membership
Enduris occasionally sends cyber risk alerts when we see something that may impact our member districts. We want the alert to reach someone who can act on it. The main contact on file with Enduris may not be the one who manages your email, website, or cyber security issues.
Please give us the name and email of the person responsible for your district’s technology. That could be an employee, a contracted IT provider, or a designated board member. It takes a few minutes using our member contact update form:
https://www.enduris.us/member-contact-update/
Select the cyber contact option so we know to route alerts directly to that person.
The bottom line
Getting started with cyber risk management does not require a large budget or a full-time specialist. It requires knowing where your exposures are, fixing the important ones first, and making sure the right person hears about problems quickly. KYND provides the visibility. Registering, reading the monthly report, and naming a cyber contact are the steps that put it to use.
