I love this time of year, not just because the air is crisp, but because it offers a natural moment to pause, reflect, and look ahead. Fall brings change, and with it comes a renewed sense of purpose and possibility. It is a time to appreciate what we have accomplished and to plan for what is next.
Each September we begin a new policy year. As we settle into this new year, we take stock of where we have been and look forward to the opportunities ahead. It is a season of learning and planning, a chance to celebrate successes, address challenges, and strengthen the foundation that keeps Enduris strong for all of our members.
The property reinsurance market, after years of steady increases, finally offered some relief. We were pleased to pass those savings directly to you, our members. On the liability side, we initially expected about a 10 percent increase, which would have been welcome in today’s market. However, an unexpected trial verdict late in the process significantly impacted the final outcome. This resulted in higher renewal costs. While this was not what any of us hoped for, it is a reminder of the very nature of risk and why we exist as a pool.
Enduris is in the business of helping our member districts manage risk. Our team plans for moments like these, ensuring we remain resilient and ready to respond. The lessons we take from this year’s experience will make us even stronger moving forward.
Financially, we anticipate a positive overall result for the last policy year, and we will share the final numbers with you in November. But beyond the numbers, what stands out most to me is the continued trust and partnership we share. Each renewal represents not just a transaction, but a reaffirmation of confidence in Enduris and in one another.
Thank you for renewing your trust with us. It is an honor to support you as you serve your communities across Washington. Together, we continue to build a stable, reliable, and forward-looking pool that is ready for the challenges ahead and optimistic about the opportunities to come.
Warm regards,
Sheryl Brandt
